Ask Us A Question

Protect your commercial property or equipment from the elements with quality commercial powder coating services from Wright Coating Technologies.

What is Powder Coating?

Commercial powder coating is an advanced method of applying a decorative and protective finish to virtually any type of metal. The powder used in the process is a mixture of finely ground particles of pigment and resin, which is a fluid bed or electrostatically sprayed onto the surface.

Wright Coating Technologies offers a variety of metal powder coatings to meet your unique industrial project needs and budgetary requirements. Our coatings include electrostatic spray or fluid bed epoxy, electrostatic spray polyester, fluid bed vinyl, nylon, dip or electrostatic spray co-polymer, and dip polyvinyl chloride. A special ClassicKote powder coating process is available for heat-tolerant plastic components.

Benefits

Commercial equipment and structures can benefit from powder coating, which offers corrosion resistance, abrasion protection, and an attractive, uniform surface finish. Another advantage of powder coating is environmental stewardship. Powder coating produces less waste than conventional liquid coatings, emits zero or near zero volatile organic compounds and its overspray can be recycled. Powder coating also enables the use of special effects that are otherwise impossible with standard coating processes.

Applications

At Wright Coating Technologies, we have four unique powder coating lines that incorporate manual and automated processes to handle jobs of all sizes, complexities, and demanding turnaround times. Our teams regularly apply powder coatings to parts used in a variety of industries, which include alternative energy, appliance, automotive, consumer goods, fabrication, fitness equipment, and office furniture. Application methods include epoxy-based electrostatic spray, epoxy-based fluid bed, and polyester-based electrostatic spray powder coating.

Epoxy-based electrostatic spray powder coating is widely used to protect a variety of metal substrates from corrosion. Using a process in which the part is electrostatically sprayed with dry powder fluidized with air and then post cured, electrostatic sprayed epoxy is generally applied at a thickness ranging from 1.5 to 4.5 mils, or thousandths of an inch. Typical coating application temperatures usually range from 180 degrees Celsius to 250 degrees Celsius, or 360 degrees Fahrenheit to 480 degrees Fahrenheit. Epoxy-based powders are not recommended for exterior-type applications.

Epoxy-based fluid bed powder coating is also widely used to protect a variety of metal substrates from corrosion. The fluid bed process is generally used when a part requires a thicker coating than other powder coating methods. Using a dip process in which the part is preheated and dipped into a dry powder fluidized with air and then post cured, epoxy-based fluid bed powder coating is commonly applied at a thickness ranging from 5 to 30 mils, or thousandths of an inch. Typical epoxy-based fluid bed powder coating application temperatures usually range from 180 degrees Celsius to 250 degrees Celsius, or 360 degrees Fahrenheit to 480 degrees Fahrenheit. Epoxy-based powders are not recommended for exterior-type applications.

Often applied to inhibit corrosion on parts, polyester-based electrostatic spray powder coating is used on a variety of metal substrates. Using a spray process in which the part is electrostatically sprayed with a dry powder fluidized with air and then post cured, polyester-based electrostatic spray powder coating is often applied at a thickness ranging from 1.5 to 4.5 mils, or thousandths of an inch. Typical coating application temperatures usually range from 180 degrees Celsius to 250 degrees Celsius, or 360 degrees Fahrenheit to 480 degrees Fahrenheit. Polyester-based powders are recommended for the interior- and exterior-type applications.
