Seat Support Bracket Cost Reduction
Situation
Brackets located behind the third seat of this van were covered with a thermoplastic sleeve. Applying the sleeve required an additional labor step in the assembly process and provided marginally acceptable appearance. Initial attempts to replace the expensive thermoplastic sleeve with a coating were unsuccessful due to the difficulty of applying the coating only in specific areas, avoiding bolt holes and attachment surfaces.

Approach
Wright Coating developed an answer using copolymer, textured coating. In addition to selecting a durable coating for application, Wright engineers developed a process for masking the exposed bolt holes and attach points.
Result
Manufacturer has replaced the costly and bulky thermoplastic sleeve with an attractive and durable textured coating. The result was a substantial savings in costs. Wright Coating supplies several hundred thousands of the coated brackets.
