Nylon Coatings are the Ultimate Choice for Plastic Products

For many products, the length of time they’ll last and keep looking great depends so much on which type of coating is chosen. It’s extremely important for manufacturers to choose a coating based on how it interacts and works with a given material. For example, epoxy coatings are especially useful for heavy-duty metal materials in industrial settings because they are heat and chemical resistant. With plastics, however, the type of coating used is very different. In most cases, a nylon coating provides the optimum solution for creating an effective barrier on the surface of a plastic product.

A nylon coating is usually chosen for plastic products for several important reasons. For example, plastic is resistant to both corrosion and abrasion, helping it to last longer and prevent flaking or deterioration of the product surface. It can also withstand impacts quite well, so it’s a good coating choice for plastic objects which get a lot of use day in and day out. Nylon coatings are also noted for their great noise reduction properties, helping to eliminating squeaking, rattling or buzzing among moving parts. This type of coating has a particularly low level of surface friction, which is great for moving parts as well.

Most people probably don’t realize just how many of the objects they use in their daily lives benefit from having a durable and high-performance nylon coating on them. In many cases, office furniture, appliances and medical equipment all are made with a strong nylon coating. Even cars, trucks and other vehicles have nylon coatings on many of their parts, particularly on plastic elements on the dashboard, steering wheel and other components. In general, most of us encounter nylon coatings every day, not realizing that they are the reason that so many of these objects last for so long.
